Panthers Open Season with Win

The Tompkins Cortland Community College men's soccer team opened the 2025 season with a 4-0 win over Clinton Community College in Dryden on Saturday. It marks the third straight year the Panthers have opened the season with a win.

For the second straight year, Stanley Wiggins (Wallyford, England/Musselburgh) scored the first goal of the season for the Panthers. On Saturday, the first score came on a penalty kick just six minutes into the game, and was followed three minutes later with a goal by Reuben Shaw (Bideford, England/Great Torrington School). The score was 3-0 at half, thanks to another goal by Shaw in the 37th minute of play. The final score came after the half, with Wiggins heading in a cross by Jay Pearson (Penicuik, Scotland/Queen Victoria School) in the 75th minute.

Tom Angus (Edinburgh, Scotland/Portobello H.S.) and Cillian Lynch (Dublin, Ireland/St. Vincents School) split time in goal to record the team shutout.

The Panthers host Onondaga Community College on Wednesday.
