A late goal by freshman Caspar Kirby (Gerrards Cross, England/Berkshire College of Agriculture) gave the Tompkins Cortland Community College men's soccer team a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Onondaga Community College on Wednesday. The result leaves the Panthers with a record of 1-0-1 overall and 0-0-1 in Mid-State Athletic Conference. It was the season-opener for Onondaga.

The visiting Lazers dominated possession in the first half, but TC3 keeper Cillian Lynch (Dublin, Ireland/St. Vincent's School) kept the game scoreless with several high-quality saves. Onondaga finally broke through ten minutes into the second half, but the Panthers picked up their play as the game wore on. The tying score came off a corner kick, with Jay Pearson (Penicuik, Scotland/Queen Victoria School) playing a nice ball into the box where Kirby cashed in for the equalizer.

Lynch finished with 10 saves for the Panthers.

Looking ahead

The Panthers have a week off before hosting Jefferson Community College on Wednesday, September 10.
