It was a slow start for the TC3 women on Wednesday, and when the opponent is one of the top teams in the country, the result is likely to not be good. That's what happened to Panthers as they traveled to Watertown and lost to #5-ranked Jefferson Community College, 79-46. TC3 is now 2-3 overall and 1-2 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Jefferson improves to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the MSAC.
It didn't take long for Jefferson to take control, racing to a 30-6 lead after one quarter. The Panthers settled things down a bit in the second quarter, outscoring the home team 19-9 to close the gap to 39-25 at the half. The spread continued to grow after the break with Jefferson steadily pulling away to the 33-point final margin.
Kyla Mustapha led the team in scoring and rebounding, putting up 20 points and 8 boards. Melody Fann also reached double figures with 11 points.
Looking ahead
The Panthers close out the semester with a pair of home games this weekend. Saturday the team tips at 1 p.m. vs. Herkimer College; Sunday it's Mohawk Valley Community College at noon.
