Freshman Kyla Mustapha had one of the biggest scoring nights in program history on Wednesday, but it wasn't nearly enough as the Panthers lost to #8-ranked Jefferson Community College 90-35. TC3 is now 2-7 overall and 1-4 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Jefferson improves to 8-3 overall and 4-0 in the MSAC.

The visiting Cannoneers relied on a balanced attack to take control early, racing to a 19-2 lead after one quarter and extending the margin the rest of the way. Three Jefferson players reached double figures, and all nine players scored. By contrast, the Panthers were decidedly off balance. Mustapha scored 30 of the team's 35 points and assisted on one of the two baskets she didn't score. No player has scored more points for the Panthers since Rickeya Atkinson tied the school's single-game scoring record with 32 points in 2015.

Rylan Robicheaux and Matisyn Lord each had two points for the Panthers, with Robicheaux adding nine rebounds and four blocked shots.

Looking ahead

The Panthers face off against another top-ten ranked team on Saturday, playing at #9 Fulton-Montgomery Community College.
