Mustapha Sets Scoring Record in Loss

The scoring hot streak for Kyla Mustapha reached a new level on Saturday as the freshman set a Panthers single-game scoring record by dropping 40 points in the 68-57 road loss to Finger Lakes Community College. TC3 is now 2-10 overall and 1-6 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Finger Lakes improves to 3-10 overall and 1-4 in the MSAC.

The Panthers trailed 54-30 after three quarters, but Mustapha led a rally that cut the deficit to seven points in the final minute before the Lakers closed out the win. Mustapha netted 19 of her 40 points in the final quarter, putting a cap on a performance that broke a record set in 2004 when Jaclyn Sutton scored 32 points in a game. Mustapha, who added 16 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 assists, and 2 blocks, has averaged 29.4 points per game in the five games this month.

Matisyn Lord netted 7 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals and Rylan Robicheaux added 4 points and 7 rebounds.

The Panthers have a week off before hosting North Country Community College to close out January on Saturday.
