The Panthers snapped their 11-game losing streak in dominating fashion on Saturday, setting a season high in points while cruising past Finger Lakes Community College 81-63. TC3 is now 3-13 overall and 2-8 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference, while Finger Lakes drops to 3-17 overall and 1-9 in conference.
The Panthers recognized their sophomores prior to the tip, and once the game started, the home team wasted little time in setting the tone. The Panthers scored the first four points of the game and led 14-9 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter saw the biggest scoring output of the year for TC3, putting 27 on the board to take a 41-22 lead into the break. Another strong quarter saw the Panthers stretch the lead to 63-40, and the spread peaked at 26 points in the fourth quarter before ending with the 18-point win.
Sophomore Michaela Jean-Philippe had another big game with 25 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals while Kyla Mustapha had 28 points to lead all scorers. Melody Fann also had a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds, and sophomore Rylan Robicheaux grabbed 7 rebounds. Cortney Scutt, who will graduate next semester and was also recognized in the pregame ceremony, dopped 6 points to go with 2 rebounds and 2 steals.
Looking ahead
It's a quick turnaround for the Panthers, as the team plays again tomorrow at SUNY Broome.
