  • Season Ends with Most Wins Since 2011

    A season with many bright moments came to an end Saturday at the Tompkins Cortland Community College volleyball team hosted a Region III Pod. The Panthers lost in straight sets to Genesee Community College and Finger Lakes Community College before ending the day with a thrilling five-set match with Monroe Community College. The 3-2 loss to the Tribunes means Tompkins Cortland ends the year with a record of 7-14, the most wins for the Panthers in a season since 2011.
  • Panthers Drop MSAC Finale

    The last conference match of the volleyball season ended with a 3-0 loss for Tompkins Cortland Community College Wednesday as the Panthers fell in straight sets to Jefferson Community College. The Panthers end with a 1-5 record in the Mid-State Athletic Conference while Jefferson finishes at 5-1. Both teams conclude their regular season with Region III matches this weekend. Tompkins Cortland’s overall record is now 7-11 while Jefferson stands at 20-5.
  • Panthers Swept at Finger Lakes

    The Tompkins Cortland Community College volleyball team dropped its fourth straight match Wednesday, losing in straight sets at Finger Lakes Community College. The Panthers are now 7-10 overall and 1-4 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Finger Lakes is 15-7 overall and 4-2 in the MSAC.
  • Panthers Struggle at Jamestown Pod

    A week after going 3-0 at a Region III pod, the tables were turned on the Tompkins Cortland Community College volleyball team Saturday as the Panthers went winless in Jamestown. The team lost to Jamestown Community College (3-0), Erie Community College (3-0), and Niagara County Community College (3-1) to drop to 7-9 overall and 6-8 in Region III.
  • Panthers Volleyball Goes 3-0 at Adirondack Pod

    Saturday was a pretty good day for the Tompkins Cortland Community College volleyball team. For the first time since Region III instituted pod play that features each team playing three different opponents on one day, the Panthers went undefeated. Tompkins Cortland won all three matches by scores of 3-1, beating SUNY Adirondack, Hudson Valley Community College, and North Country Community College. The wins improve the Panthers to 7-6 overall and 6-5 in Region III.
  • Panthers Honor Sophomores Before Playing Onondaga

    On the night the four sophomores on the Tompkins Cortland Community College volleyball team were honored, the Panthers dropped a home match to Onondaga Community College. Wednesday night’s Mid-State Athletic Conference match went to Onondagas in straight sets, dropping the Panthers to 4-6 overall and 1-3 in the MSAC. Onondaga is now 6-4 overall and 2-2 in the MSAC.
  • Panthers Volleyball Earns Two Wins at Broome Pod

    The Tompkins Cortland Community College volleyball team earned a pair of wins Saturday, beating Mohawk Valley Community College in five sets, 3-2, and getting a forfeit from Fulton-Montgomery Community College, 3-0. The Panthers also faced off against Herkimer College, losing 3-0. The Panthers are 4-5 overall and 3-5 in Region III.
  • Panthers Fall to Undefeated Hornets

    Playing host to one of the top teams in the region, the Tompkins Cortland Community College volleyball team came up short Thursday, losing to SUNY Broome in straight sets, 25-9, 25-22, 25-9. The Panthers are now 2-4 overall, 1-4 in Region III, and 1-2 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Broome is 7-0 overall, 5-0 in Region III, and 4-0 in the MSAC.
  • Panthers Pick Up Second Win of the Season

    The Tompkins Cortland Community College volleyball team picked up its second win of the season when the Panthers went 1-2 in three matches Saturday. The Region III Pod at Corning saw the Panthers beat Cayuga Community College 3-0 before falling to Jefferson Community College and Onondaga Community College, each by scores of 3-0. The Panthers are now 2-3 overall and 1-3 in Region III contests.
  • Volleyball Comes Up Just Short at Corning

    A pair of sets decided by just two points each started the Tompkins Cortland Community College volleyball match at Corning Community College Wednesday. Unfortunately for the Panthers, both of those tight contests went in favor of the Red Barons before Corning finished the sweep with a seven-point win in the third set. Corning by scores of 26-24, 25-23, and 25-18 to improve to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Tompkins Cortland falls to 1-1 overall and in the MSAC.
  • Panthers Volleyball Opens Season with Win

    The 2018 Tompkins Cortland Community College volleyball season is off to a good start. The Panthers opened the season Thursday by rallying to beat Cayuga Community College 3-1. The win not only gives the Panthers a record of 1-0 this year, it also snaps a 30-match losing skid that dates back to September 24, 2016. Tompkins Cortland went winless in 21 matches last year.
  • Panthers Honored for Academic Excellence

    Seven Tompkins Cortland Community College student-athletes have been honored for their academic excellence by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). Bridger Carreau (Marietta, Ga./Lassiter H.S.), Nicole Deselets (Cherry Valley/Cherry Valley H.S.), Sage Garrison (Odessa/Odessa-Montour H.S.), Amanda Green (Lansing/Lansing H.S.), Liam Moneypeny Hall (Dryden/Dryden H.S.), Austin Kulas (Moravia/Moravia H.S.),  and Kaylie Yerdon (Cherry Valley/Cherry Valley H.S.) were recognized for their excellence in the classroom.
  • Volleyball Players Signs Letter of Intent

    Jade VanWagenen has signed her NJCAA National Letter of Intent to play volleyball for the Panthers this fall. The McGraw High graduate was a Section III All-Star in both volleyball and softball. At Tompkins Cortland, she is expected to be one of the top hitters at the net for Coach Alfie Okaru's 2018 squad.

    Eight Tompkins Cortland Community College student-athletes have been recognized as Academic All-Region by Region III of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). Bridger Carreau (Marietta, Ga./Lassiter H.S.), Nicole Deselets (Cherry Valley/Cherry Valley H.S.), Sage Garrison (Odessa/Odessa-Montour H.S.), Amanda Green (Lansing/Lansing H.S.), Austin Kulas (Moravia/Moravia), Cecelia Swan (Cassadaga Valley/Cassadaga Valley H.S.), Ridge Walker (Moravia/Moravia), and Kaylie Yerdon (Cherry Valley/Cherry Valley) were recognized for their excellence in the classroom.

    Despite going through a difficult season, the Tompkins Cortland Community College volleyball team continues to show tremendous heart. Hosting Finger Lakes Community College Wednesday, the Panthers struggled in the first two sets, losing 25-16 and 25-20, but then put together a strong effort in the third set before losing 27-25.

Tompkins Cortland also lost to SUNY Adirondack and to Hudson Valley in matches hosted by Corning Community College. The Panthers are now 0-12 on the season.
